Collagen

Rat tail collagen for coating of cell culture plates.

Quality control
For quality control purposes we measure synthesis and excretion of urea and serum proteins. The viability of our cultures is determined by the release of lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) into the culture medium.
We evaluate the quality of our cells on a daily basis by light microscopy, analysis of hepatocellular functions and LDH-release.
Analysis of the clinical chemical parameters is performed at the Institute of Laboratory Medicine at HELIOS Kliniken, Schwerin (ISO9001:2000 certified). Thereby, we achieve an independent external quality control of our hepatocyte cultures.

Services

1. Standardized and validated serum-free human and rat hepatocyte cultures. In addition, on request
  • Serum-free mouse hepatocyte cultures
  • Serum-free HepG2 hepatoma cell cultures
  • Culture of additional cell lines
2. Analyses of acute toxicity: Impact of xenobiotics on vitality and functionality of hepatocyte cultures.

3. Metabolism of drugs / biotransformation: Induction of various cytochrome P450 proteins and monitoring changes in expression of these proteins
  • Analysis of protein expression (Western blots)
  • HPLC-based analyses of enzymatic activities
  • Two-dimensional protein electrophoresis and mass spectrometry
  • RNA expression arrays
The quality of our cell cultures is subjected to a tight control. Hepatocellular vitality and functionality is monitored daily. These assays are conducted by an independent, ISO 9001:2000 certified laboratory.
